Cloverfield and Jumper
Rachelle and I went to see Cloverfield at the cinema last night. It was quite a strange movie, especially the whole “filmed from a camera” just like The Blair Witch Project. Other than that it was quite decent, you never really got to see the monster until the end, and never did find out where it came from / what caused it. Personally I think the movie ended quite suddenly too, there could have been a bit more input from other people, like when the Army comes into play.
The sound and visual effects where quite good, I am happy with that. If you have seen Cloverfield, what did you think of it?
The next movie I want to see is, Jumper.

Image Resize Powertoy for Vista
One of the most essential tools I think you need is the Image Resize Powertoy, now this currently only works with Windows XP, but after much searching around, I found one that does the job just as good as the one made by Microsoft, except it works with Vista.
The Image Resizer for Vista is a must have for anyone that is missing the Powertoy from XP that allows you to quickly resize an image from the context menu. Unfortunately it isn’t compatible with x64 Vista as of yet, but is currently being tested. If you run an x86 version of Vista, you can download it over on the download page.
Update: The Image Resizer has been updated to build 2519 and now also has x64 support. Head over to the download page to grab the new builds!

What a trip
Josh’s car broke down yesterday about 70km’s South of Sarina, and got it towed to Sarina which is about 35km’s South of Mackay. We got a phonecall asking if we can go pick him up, so being the kind people we are we set off on a long trip. Mind you, I did all this driving on 3 hours sleep.
We had showers, and left Townsville about 10:30am, we stopped off at a petrol garage at Ayr to fill the car up, then we kept going. The next stop was a pertrol garage between Proserpine and Mackay, got something to eat, and bought The Picture magazine.
Update: Photo’s are added into the gallery, you can view them here.

Serious bug in Vista, explorer.exe
I stumbled across this post made by Chris Holmes on his blog over at Chris123NT but to quote the original from Kristan Kenney over at Windows-Now.
So, I’ve run across what seems to be a very serious bug in Windows Vista and it still exists in Service Pack 1 RC1 (and I really don’t know if this is going to get fixed in SP1 either, although I would hope so).
Can anyone reproduce this? I would love to have some good customer feedback on this one.
Click on Start, and then click on Documents.
In the Search entry box, type “NOT Shortcut” (without the quotes).
Click on the “Save Search” button and save the search query as “Search Test”.In 9 out of 10 tries, Windows Explorer will stop working and will restart itself after displaying a crash dialog. Seems to be an issue with how the search files are serialized. How the hell did this one get past quality assurance? It occurs in both RTM and SP1.
Thanks!
I must say, I tried this on Vista Home Premium RTM and can reproduce the bug. I’m not sure how this sort of bug got through Microsofts test, but hopefully it gets addressed before SP1 finally gets released. If anyone else is able to reproduce the bug, please leave a comment.

Cleaning…
Rachelle went out tonight with some of her friends and catch up with some from her work, so I decided to do something nice for her. She was saying the other day that she cleans the house and the next day it is a mess.
So, while she is out, I decided to clean up the house a lot, I moved the rest of Dale’s stuff into the garage, and cleaned the empty room out and moved all of Rachelle’s scrapbooking stuff in there to make it a room for her, she is going to be so happy
I spent the last 3 and a half hours doing all the cleaning, vacuuming, mopping the floors, washing up, cleaning out the fish tanks, etc. I can’t wait for her to get home and see how clean it is. I feel really good about it all, for a change she is out having fun, and is going to come home to a lovely clean house
Well, that’s all for now, I might go watch some TV and wait for the drunken call from her to go and pick her up.
Goodnight.
