One BIG family Christmas

So it is that time of year again, you know when it is, the shops get busier and parking gets scarce. Shops have lots of sales and the banks want to give you credit cards. Yep it’s Christmas.

This year will be by far the best Christmas yet. We’ve had the kids full-time now for almost 9 months and they are very happy. My Sister and her Husband are moving up here today and are going to be staying with us for a couple of months. That means our big family has just grown by two!

It will be our first Christmas as a married couple, Cayden’s first Christmas and the first time we don’t have to share the kids! This has made me quite happy since Chell is a lot happier this year knowing this.

We’re going to have a nice big Christmas lunch and a swim in the pool (what else would you do on Christmas in 30 degree heat?). I’m looking forward to the kids opening their presents from us and Santa (we can’t give Santa all the credit, right?).

I’m not sure what else to write, all I can say is I’m definitely looking forward to this Christmas and many more. I have such a great family and can’t wait until Saturday!

A new venture…

In the past couple of weeks Chell and I have been thinking about taking a new venture into photography. It won’t be something that will make me resign from my current job to persue full-time but more of a hobby until things pick up.

For as long as I can remember Chell has been an avid photographer taking snaps of anything and everything; you never see her without a camera on hand. Recently I had the opportunity to do my first real photoshoot which I guess you could say started the ball rolling.

Chell always has received compliments from her friends in regards to the photos she takes and since our efforts photographing our friends Wedding it seems we may have gained some interest. We’ve already had some friends offer to do some family portraits for them in the New Year so it does look promising. Will it be a full-time job? Who knows. All I know is we have a passion for it and might as well make the most of it.

I’m currently developing a website to showcase some of our work and hopefully gain some more work from it (though I feel most of it will be word-of-mouth) which I won’t complain about. So stay tuned and if you know anyone that would like some photos done make sure you send them our way. :-)

First real photo shoot

As most of you that know Chell and I know we both enjoy photography (albeit we’re amateurs) but nonetheless we enjoy it. We own a Canon 1000D with a EFS 18-55mm and EFS 75-300mm lenses. While photography isn’t something we consider as a “serious” subject right now, it is something we would like to pursue.

So I was given the opportunity to shoot our friends wedding, which I was quite nervous about and they both knew I wasn’t a professional photographer so they could understand if the photo’s weren’t “perfect”.

In the end the photos turned out great (with some post-editing from Chell). Kirsty and Lennie both loved the photos which was awesome. With the equipment I had (and only photographing the kids and stuff) I am happy with the results and would like to thank Kirsty and Lennie for the opportunity and am glad you both enjoyed the day.
