A month after the major restructuring at Google to make rise to Alphabet, Google introduced a new logo. One of the biggest changes since 1999. It is a simple, somewhat material design sans-serif typeface. In a recent blog post they’ve explained the reason for the change.
The new logo needed to work well even on the smallest of devices. It will soon be seen across all of its products. The redesign was introduced on their homepage with an animation that wiped away the old logo and drew the new one.
Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years – from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again.
This isn’t the first time we’ve changed our look and it probably won’t be the last, but we think today’s update is a great reflection of all the ways Google works for you across Search, Maps, Gmail, Chrome and many others.
There is a great video, which explains the history of the Google name.
