Poor service at Doran’s Diesel Injection

Doran’s Diesel Injection Service in Garbutt, Townsville quoted us $1600 and told us it would take a week to replace a seal in the fuel pump of our Mitsubishi Delica (L400). It ended up costing $2050 and took 14 days to fix! Their reasoning for taking longer and costing more was “there were rusty bolts near the batteries so it took longer”!

They didn’t even have the decency to contact us at all the whole time they had the car to let us know what was going on! The only time they contacted us was a day after we dropped it off to tell us that it was all pulled apart and the fuel pump was definately the problem. They also said if we wanted the aircon fixed it would cost another $2000 just for a compressor alone. So it was all pulled apart after a day but it took another 13 days to put the seal in and put back together?

We contacted them after the car had been there for 9 days to see what was going on and were told that some of their machinery was broken and needed to be fixed before the car could be finished.  Another 3 days went by so we contacted them again, this time we were told that one of the guys had been “taken off” working on my car because there were other “more urgent” jobs to be done (Chell has 4 kids and need to work also).

When Chell finally went to pick up the car up the guy was very rude. He said it was a big job and then told her that some bolts near the batteries were rusty so it took longer to fix. So does that mean she paid almost an extra $500 and went without the car for 14 days for him to take out rusty bolts?

Chell is very upset and not happy with their service and will NEVER take the car to them again, and we will NEVER recommend them to anyone. I just thought that I would share our experience with them and hope anyone else that goes to Doran’s Diesel Injection Service doesn’t have the same problems we had.

The thing I find quite out of the ordinary is this following quote from their website.

The team at Doran’s Diesel are renowned, not only for their wealth of experience but for their friendly and patient assistance.

I would love to know where there friendly and patient assistance was.

Sickness, Movies, Rest

I started getting sick on Sunday, which was quite bad. I couldn’t sleep properly, coughing all the time, nausea e.t.c. It has worked in my favour though, as I am still sick, I have pretty much quit smoking which is good.

I have Tue/Wed off work, so Chell and I decided to hire some movies and be lazy / let me rest for the two days which has been great.

I was feeling a bit better yesterday, so Chell and I decided to get some prawns for dinner, and we got some garlic and made garlic prawns for dinner, they were delicious.

We dropped the magna off at the mechanic’s this morning to get the brakes done on it, so hopefully they will be all fixed. We then bought some doritos for snacks to night for when we watch the state of origin, c’mon maroons!

That’s all for now, I hope I feel better by tomorrow, this is four days now I’ve felt like crap!

Update: I awoke this morning, feeling a lot better, which is great. My throat is still a little sore. The might maroon’s dominated the field last night, winning state of origin II, the end result – QLD: 30, NSW: 0. Now all we have to do is win the 3rd and final game in 3 weeks, I know we can do it!

Head-unit & Speakers

Well Josh went and bought a new head-unit on Tuesday, so he came around that night with his old one, and we wired it up in the Magna. It was quite a pain, since it was dark we had a lamp hooked up, and the center spacia in the Magna was a pain getting out too. But it’s all installed and working – thanks Josh!

Today Chell and I went shopping as it was her birthday yesterday, so she got money e.t.c :-) Chell ended up getting her nails done, and they look damn sexy! ;-)

Chell also bought some stuff for her hair to help keep it straight longer when she straightens it. Chell also bought a new set of 6×9′s for the Magna, they were $110, but on sale for $70. I got them all hooked up today, and they sound great just running off the head-unit – thanks baby!

Well that’s all for now, better go get ready for work

’98 TF Magna Solara

On Tuesday Rachelle and I went down to the car dealership to pick up our Magna. It’s a ’98 model, is tinted and has 17″ rims, doesn’t have any dents. It also has a head-unit and speakers, but the laser must be dying as it doesn’t play-back cd’s properly, the radio will do for now :-).

I ended up getting the car for $8000, that’s with registration and insurance, so wasn’t a bad deal. The car has 134,000k’s on the clock which isn’t too bad for the price. The ride itself is quite smooth, and we’re not used to being so low again :-P.

We both love the car, we will eventually change it and make it our own (re-spray, head-unit e.t.c.). Well, that’s enough talking for now, you can view the pics over in the Gallery.
