Speed up the iPhone 4
So you’re probably thinking the iPhone 4 is fast enough already, right? Well if there is any bit of performance you can squeeze out of a device then why not? After doing all this I get around 360MB – 370MB of available memory after a reboot.
First things first, you need to JailBreak which is simple as going to JailBreakMe in Safari on the iPhone. You can either download limera1n or greenpois0n to JailBreak.

Optus Tethering on iPhone OS 3.1.2
There is now a simple way to enable tethering on the iPhone 3G/3Gs using Optus without paying extra. Now if you do happen to get charged I take no responsibility.
Your iPhone must be JailBroken. Add http://apt.iphone-storage.de as a source in Cydia, then search for Tethering and install the one corresponding to your iPhone (Tethering 3G – 3.1.2 or Tethering 3GS – 3.1.2).
Once installed, reboot then open Safari and navigate to http://justynsmith.info/mobileconfig/au_optus.mobileconfig and install the mobileconfig file. Once installed you should be able to go to Settings > General > Networking > Tethering (on/off).

Protect your iPhone from Rick Astley worm
Most of you know by now that Ashley Towns copied and released an iPhone worm that sets your wallpaper to Rick Astley. If you have been affected it is due to you having a JailBroken iPhone and had SSH installed, turned on and kept the default root password.
For those that aren’t affected, and have SSH installed. I recommend changing the root password and this is how you do it.
Enable tethering on iPhone 3G & 3Gs 3.1.2
So you want to know how to enable tethering on 3.1.2 well it’s not as hard as you think. You will need access to a version of OS X that has bspatch installed. I’m not sure which version as I’m not a mac fan.
You will need either of these:
You will need to install MobileTerminal (available in Cydia) and also OpenSSH (from Cydia) if you plan to copy the files via SSH. I used i-FunBox just to make it easier.

Speed up the iPhone 3G and 3Gs
I recently upgraded my iPhone 3G to 3.1.2 and JailBroke it. So I decided to try the experiments to speed up the iPhone by removing language packs and disabling launch daemons. The iPhone seems more snappier since doing this, read more to see the full story.
